I’m not a poor student anymore, but I still have to budget closely. And coffee is one of those things that it’s worth spending on.

My first response was, “Coffee.” I, like the Local Kitchener, try to put my money where my convictions are…as well as where my taste-buds are. When possible (considering I live in Newfoundland…there are limits), I buy local, or at least Canadian, or at least North American…or organic. It all depends on what the choices are and whether or not it’s reasonable to select something that is grown on the other side of the planet. Coffee is one of those things produced far away, yet I choose to consume it. My philosophy is that since I can’t get Canadian-grown coffee, I’m going to do my best to buy fair trade and locally roasted. And my taste buds thank me. My favourite roaster in St. John’s, NL is Jumping Bean Coffee. If you’re ever in town, I’d highly recommend checking them out.

Thanks, glad you appreciated it! And the mug came from my wife’s biochem department in university. I guess they just had them made for them!
